What is Velop?

Velop is a sensory wellness app designed for neurodivergent users. It combines sound, visuals, and touch interaction to support your comfort and well-being.

The Short Version

We collect as little data as possible. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not track your behavior for marketing purposes. Your sensory preferences are personal, and we treat them that way.

What We Collect

If you use Velop without an account (free tier)

We collect no personal data. The app runs entirely in your browser. Your mode selections, slider positions, and visual preferences are not transmitted to any server. We may use basic, anonymous analytics (such as page visits and general device type) to understand how the app is used and to fix bugs. These analytics contain no personally identifiable information.

If you create an account (Plus tier)

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address — Used for login and account recovery. We will not send marketing emails unless you opt in.
  • Preferences and favorites — Your saved sound and visual assignments, favorite scenes, and mode configurations are stored so they sync across your devices.
  • Payment information — Processed through a third-party payment provider. We do not store your credit card number, bank details, or other financial information on our servers.

We do not collect:

  • Health or medical data
  • Biometric data
  • Location data
  • Microphone or camera input
  • Contacts or phone data
  • Usage patterns tied to your identity (which sounds you play, how long you use the app, what modes you choose)

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used only to:

  • Provide and maintain the Velop service
  • Sync your preferences across devices (account holders only)
  • Process payments (account holders only)
  • Fix bugs and improve app performance using anonymous, aggregated data
  • Respond to support requests you initiate

Third-Party Services

We may use the following third-party services:

  • Hosting provider (Netlify) — Serves the app. Subject to Netlify’s privacy policy.
  • Payment processor (TBD) — Handles Plus tier payments. Subject to their privacy policy. We will update this section when a payment provider is selected.
  • Anonymous analytics (TBD) — If implemented, will collect only non-identifiable usage data (page loads, device category, browser type). No cookies that track you across sites.

We do not use any advertising networks, data brokers, or behavioral tracking tools.

Cookies and Local Storage

Velop may use browser local storage to save your preferences (such as your last-used mode or slider positions) so the app remembers your settings between sessions. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers unless you have an account and choose to sync.

We do not use third-party tracking cookies.

Data Retention

  • No-account users — No personal data is stored on our servers.
  • Account holders — Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is deleted within 30 days.
  • Anonymous analytics — Aggregated data may be retained indefinitely, but it cannot be linked to any individual.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export your data in a standard format
  • Withdraw consent for any optional data processing

Children’s Privacy

Velop is designed to be used by people of all ages, including minors with ADHD, autism, and sensory processing differences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA) without parental consent. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

“Can’t Afford It” Policy

If you request free access through our accessibility policy, the only information we collect is your email address to grant access. We do not ask for proof of financial status, and we do not store or share the fact that you requested free access.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls on our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we will notify account holders by email and update this page. Minor clarifications may be made without notice.
